Unified Volleyball Team Takes Championship!
The Chariho Unified Volleyball team capped a thrilling season by winning the Championship on November 4 at Johnson and Wales University. This is the second championship victory for the team.
This final game followed a season of many wins and few loses. Practicing often since the very first day of school, the team was able to work together in transformative ways. At practices, teammates worked together warming-up, stretching, and eating a surplus of Subway sandwiches to fuel them all the way to to the final moments.
Each Unified Volleyball consists of three matches. The winner of two out of three of the matches wins the whole game. During the recent championship the team started off strong with a large lead in the first match. During the second match, the Townies caught up in the last minutes of the game. However, by persevering the Chargers were able to continue to be brave in their attempt and bring home another championship title for Chariho.
This victory would not have been possible without the support from Special Olympics, Chariho Sports Boosters, and especially the parents of many athletes who made it a priority to show up and cheer on the team. Last, but certainly not least, a large thank you goes out to Mrs. Dadamio, Mrs. Miller, and Mrs. Rondeau, the teams' amazing coaches, whose faith did not once waver. Throughout their season, each and every member of the Chariho Unified Volleyball team exemplified what it truly is to be a Charger and a member of the Special Olympics Community.
Let me win. But if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt.
