A Holiday Classic: Chariho Theatre Company Presents 'Miracle on 34th Street'
To ring in the holiday season, the Chariho High School Theatre Company presents a stage adaptation of the classic movie Miracle on 34th Street.
The play recounts the story of a man named Kris Kringle who gets hired by the department store, Macy’s, to be their Santa. Although Kris claims that he is the real Santa, his employer and others are skeptical, ultimately causing the courts to decide on the matter. Kris reminds those that have lost their Christmas spirit to find it within themselves.
This play is directed by Director Ms. Rebecca Burns and Assistant Director Ms. Erin Hall.
“We chose this play because it's a classic, a family favorite, and has something for everyone,” said Ms. Burns as she continued.
Unlike other plays that the Chariho Theatre Company has done, this one features more of the Chariho community. Ms. Burns explained, “CHS Vocal Select is being featured as carolers, CHARIHOtech Cosmetology is providing us with a Hollywood-quality beard for Kris Kringle, CHARIHOtech Advertising and Design is creating our posters and programs, and local elementary school students are acting in the show and writing Santa letters for a special surprise near the end of the play!”
Performances are on November 30th at 7 pm, December 1st at 7 pm, and December 2nd at 2 pm. General Admission is $7 and Students & Seniors is $5. Tickets will be available at the door at the entrance of the Chariho Middle School Auditorium.
As to the readiness for opening night, Ms. Burns says that the cast and crew are in the fine-tuning stage but that they will be more than ready for opening night.
