Chariho Wrestling Match Against Bishop Hendricken

On Tuesday, January 15th, 2019, Chariho wrestlers faced Bishop Hendricken at a home meet. Although the Chargers persevered, they suffered their first loss this year from their largest challenger, Bishop Hendricken. Although overall it was a bitter defeat, there were many positive highlights.

Sophomore James Dougherty was the first to score points with an amazing match ending it with a pin; his brother senior Ben Dougherty had an energetic match winning by fifteen points. Senior Cameron Anderson also bagged a pin for his team. Junior Nate Marchione thought to have a big match, absolutely destroyed his opponent.

Although the teams suffered some defeats, they have only become more determined to win.

As Wrestling Coach, Scott Merritt said, “That was only round one.” Round two will be at the State Championship. Every practice is a push and push.

Please come and support the wrestling team at our meets, tournaments, and championship, they will not let you down. They will come hard. They will come fast. They will come charging.
